Early morning fire destroys house
At 7:58 a.m. Saturday, the Bemidji Fire Department responded to a fire at 17997 Old Grouse Road N.W. in Liberty Township.
A trailer house and two sheds were destroyed in the fire, but no people or animals were injured.
The Fire Department responded with 21 firefighters, a squad car, two pumpers and two tankers. The Department of Natural Resources firefighters also responded, as did a Beltrami Electric Cooperative emergency crew.
The homeowner said she was working in the garden when she saw smoke in the trailer. She went to a neighbor's house to call 911. By 8:20 a.m., the house will fully engulfed in fire. By 8:30 a.m., the fire was under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. However, no one in the house is a smoker, and no cooking was going on when the fire started.
