Earl Stanley Sanderson, 87, of Minneapolis, formerly of Guthrie, died Monday, March 23, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem United Methodist Church, 5590 Babcock Tr. E., Inver Grove Heights, Minn. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Washburn-McReavy, 200 Central Ave. S.E., Minneapolis, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Guthrie. He joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He saw action on the Gilbert, New Hebrides and Marianas islands. He was employed as an electronic technician at Honeywell from 1956-1984. He enjoyed hiking, bowling, traveling and square dancing. He worked on green projects around his home and lake place, with solar heating and organic gardening.
He is survived by his sons, Darold and Gerald; sisters, Claris, Lucille, Celia, Pearl and Bernetta.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; brother, Melvin; and sisters, Sylvia and Percy.
