Eagan woman earns Miss Minnesota title
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- An Eagan woman has been named Miss Minnesota 2009. Brooke Kilgarriff will represent Minnesota in the Miss America competition in January.
Kilgarriff, competing as Miss Twin Cities, won in the interview and overall talent categories Saturday. She performed a rendition of "Somebody to Love," by Queen.
She's a student at The Boston Conservatory and is pursuing a career as a Broadway singer and actress. She also hopes to teach elementary school music.
Kilgarriff will receive more than $7,500 from the Miss Minnesota Scholarship Program.
Seventeen contestants competed for the title. Others recognized included:
--First runner up: Sara Larson of Austin.
--Second runner up: Natalie Davis of Dassel.
--Swimsuit winner: Kelsey Malecha of Apple Valley.
--Spirit Award: Savanna Tate of Moorhead.
--Quality of Life winner: Quinn Nystrom of Brainerd.
