Drummers prepare for Saturday concert

When the call went out to the community for a chance to learn African and Japanese drumming from Adam Mason, members of the community and students at Bemidji State University responded. They are seen here practicing for their appearance on stage Saturday for a 7 p.m. performance with Mason, an expert on world drumming. This first concert of the Bemidji Concert Series will be held in Bangsberg Fine and Performing Arts Complex, 14th Street and Birchmont Drive North. Tickets will be sold at the door. Shown above are, from left, Louise Mengelkoch, Kent Nerburn, Maggie Ragan, Callie Dunbar, Jillian Walechka and Gabriela Karam rehearsing on Wednesday evening. Monte Draper | Bemidji Pioneer
