Drum-Prov. event set for tonight
BEMIDJI – The department of music at Bemidji State University and the University of Minnesota-Duluth invites the public to join them today for the Northern Minnesota Drum-Prov.
The event, in the Thompson Recital Hall of the Bangsberg Fine and Performing Arts Complex on the campus of BSU, is a collaboration of the two groups on a workshop devoted to the notation of African drum scores using SikLik and improvisation techniques using a variety of drums and recorders.
The final public event begins at 7:30 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a drum or other noise making instrument to join with the students in a Community Drum Circle. Photographs from the day’s Scavenger Hunt on the campus of BSU will be displayed.
No need to reserve a spot, just show up ready to join in the activity. This event is free and open to the public.
