Douglas Andrew Amundson, 62, of rural Nimrod, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 in rural Nimrod as a result of a farm accident.
He was born to Walter and Loella (Skully) Amundson on March 3, 1946 in Wadena County. He married Ardith Kanzenbach on Feb. 14, 1964. They had five children.
He had many various jobs during his lifetime but driving truck always took precedence. He hauled cattle and loaded sod, hay and logs over the years.
Over the years, he was involved in the Riders of the Crow Wing Saddle Club, Motley Fair Board, NRA and a member of the Nimrod Coffee Club.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters: Michelle (Rick) Olson, of Wadena, and Andrea, of Verndale; three sons: Duane (Laura), of Redwood Falls, Keith (Rhonda), of Motley, and Bryan (Shanna), of Ponsford; a sister, Doris Bruner, of Siren, Wis.; two brothers: Howard (Marlene), of Minnetonka, and Gordon (Helen), of Pine River; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Carly Fern; and a grandson, Matthew James Roth.
Honorary casket bearers: His grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Active casket bearers: Duane Swanson, Bob Wiebesick, Maurice Erickson, Joe Kurzenberger, Ray Pederson and Ray Heideman.
Funeral service: Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Sebeka United Methodist Church with Pastor Loren Ferch officiating.
Interment: West Lyons Cemetery, Lyons Township, Wadena County.
