Dorothy Margaret (Langord) Anderson
Dorothy Margaret (Langord) Anderson age 90 went to the live in the kingdom of the Lord on July 22, 2014. She passed away in Escondido, CA and was born on December 28, 1923 to Clifton and Mary Langord in Blackduck, MN. She was a lifetime resident of Blackduck and graduated from Blackduck High School in 1942. She married Darwin Anderson of Alvwood, MN on June 28, 1942. They lived on the Anderson farm until Darwin was called into the Air Force in 1943. After World War II Darwin went to watchmaker school in St Paul, MN for two years and then they opened Anderson Jewelry Store in Blackduck.
Dorothy and Darwin enjoyed 33 years of having their business in Blackduck as well as being married for 66 years before Darwin passed away in 2008.
Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized as a baby, confirmed, married and raised four children and nephew in the church. She was an active member at Zion through the years teaching Sunday school, sang in the Choir and held offices for Ladies Aid, LDR and Mary Martha circle. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 372. She was also a member of the Tri Sigma club for over 50 years and held offices for her club.
She loved to go fishing, golfing, bowling, dancing and playing cards. But her greatest loves were husband, her children and grandchildren. In her later years her hobby became making quilts for her family and friends. After moving to California three years ago she enjoyed watching birds and the daily sunshine.
A celebration of her full life will take place on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Free Flight Birds in Del Mar, CA. Her favorite song was Under his Wings which makes it appropriate to celebrate her life and legacy in a place she would truly love.
She was preceded in death by her husband Darwin, parents Clifton and Mary Langord, brother Clifford "Bud"Langord and grandsons Dean Anderson and Chad Brown. Dorothy is survived by her children Darwin Anderson Jr. (Patricia)Washburn, ND, Mary Chris Kirby, San Diego, CA, Lisa Anderson-Hines, (Nathaniel) Escondido, CA, Dawn Anderson-Carter, (Lenell) San Diego, CA and special nephew Kim Langord, (Tamara) Hazen, ND. Surviving Dorothy are also many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. They were all so dearly loved by Dorothy.
Her final resting place will be at the Lakeview cemetery in Blackduck next to her husband and relatives.
