Dorothy Lucille Goldquist, 93 of Bemidji died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be 1-3:00pm, Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji with Rev. Zachary Ender officiating, with one hour of visitation before the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

She was born March 19, 1920 in Alpha, Michigan the daughter of Joseph and Endora (Chase) Arcand. She was raised in Alpha and in the Crystal Falls, Michigan area. She played drums in the band and attended any dance she could. She worked at Rossi’s and Pedo’s Grocery store. She married William Myefski on June 14, 1940 in Iron River, Michigan. She attended Northern Michigan University and got certified as an LPN. She worked as a nurse at the Crystal Falls Nursing Home, Crystal Falls Hospital, Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, the Woods VA Hospital, the Iron Mountain VA Hospital, and the Minneapolis VA Hospital. She retired from the Minneapolis VA Hospital in 1986 where she was working in the Kidney Transplant field. She took a job at the Goodman Lumber Mill in Goodman, Wisconsin for a time. She moved to the Blackduck, MN area in 1991, where she worked for Anderson Fabrics. She also used her sewing skills to make Trauma Bears for the Bemidji Police Department. She was an excellent dancer, enjoyed cooking, and was especially known for her pasties. She also enjoyed going to the Casino and bowling. She was a mentor to her children, grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by: her children, Jim(Pat)Myefski of Westerville, Ohio, Darlene (Jack) Houchins of Squaw Lake, MN, Sue (Tom) Gibson of Bayou Vista, Texas,

8 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Myefski, sons William Myefski Jr., Robert Myefski, Granddaughter Sharon Macki, and 8 brothers.
