Dorothy Ann (Larsen) Rusley, 85, of Bemidji, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Goldpine Home in Bemidji.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji with the Rev. Warren Braughton and the Rev. James Darchuk officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial of cremated remains will be in Winnebago Lutheran Cemetery in Winnebago, Iowa.
Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born Sept. 2, 1923, to Henry and Ada (Storhow) Larsen in Chicago, Ill. She grew up and attended school in the Chicago, Ill., area. She attended Oak School and graduated from Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Ill. She earned a dietician degree from Iowa State College, in Ames, Iowa, in 1945. She served her internship at Ann Arbor Michigan University. On June 3, 1950, she married Ralph Rusley at Grace Lutheran Church in La Grange, Ill. They lived in Minneapolis, Brooklyn, N.Y., Rolla, N.D., Ellendale, N.D., West Fargo, N.D., Grand Forks, N.D., and Fargo, N.D. In 2000, they moved to Scenic Shore Lane in Bemidji and in 2002, moved to BirchHaven Village and later, to Gold Pine Home. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, The American Dietetic Association, Trinity Lutheran Church in Laporte, Amita Club and honorary academic society, Phi Beta Kappa. She taught Sunday school and faithfully attended church. She enjoyed the Bethel Series and supported her husband as a pastor's wife.
She is survived by her husband of Bemidji; daughter, Jean (Dr. Kit) Christensen of Bemidji; sons, Mark Rusley of Algonquinn, Ill., and Erik (Anne) Rusley of St. Louis Park, Minn.; four grandchildren; brother, James "Stan" (Martha Kay) Larsen of Manchester, Mo., and a sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Larsen; and a sister-in-law.
