Donna J. Hagenah, 65, of Carlton, Minn., formerly of Bemidji, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, surrounded by her family.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at J.M. Paine Memorial Presbyterian Church in Carlton. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, Minn. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Elim Lutheran Cemetery in Blackhoof, Minn. with a luncheon to follow at Elim Lutheran Church.
The family has selected Nelson Funeral Care to assist them with arrangements.
She was born April 28, 1943 to Arthur and Evelyn Geller in Bemidji. She moved from the Bemidji-Cass Lake area in 1959 and has been a resident of Carlton every since. She was united in marriage to Chuck Hagenah on Aug.1, 1959. She served as a council member for the city of Thomson for a two-year term, and was recently voted in for another two-year term. She was also a member of the "Green Socks" lunch group for the past five years; the J.M. Paine Memorial Presbyterian Church in Carlton and was employed by the Carlton School Food Service for 20 years, retiring in 1998. She was the oldest of the Geller family and helped raise her siblings; and most especially, she loved her family.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck Hagenah; children, Sandy (Jerry Lund) Hagenah of Cloquet, Terri (John) Wingness of Duluth, Minn. Tim (Paula) Hagenah of Barnum, and Shawn (Joanne Highland) Hagenah of Saginaw; grandchildren, Shane, Jasmine, Cody and Rory Zack, Matt Sedor, Melanie (Justin) Bernston, Jake Sedor, and Chelsey Wingness, Ashley and Allen Hagenah, Kaitlyn and Allison Hagenah, and Derek and Davin Lund; great-grandson, Jace Berntson; brothers and sisters, Mary (Pete) Johannsen of Gilbert, Minn., Barb (Arnie Christiansen) Evans of Laporte, Minn., Rose (Al) Stecker of Mt. Iron, Minn., Patty (Don) Eichstadt of Bemidji, Jack (Darlene) Geller of Bemidji, Tom (Julie) Geller of England, Jerry (Joy) Geller of Florida, Kenny (Debbie) Geller of Cook, Minn., Penny (Bill) Roberts of Aurora, Minn., and Pam (John) Homola of Gilbert; sister and brother-in-laws, Larry (Kate) Hagenah of N.C., Lucky Kirkpatrick of Cass Lake, Millie Wocash of St. Cloud, Minn., Casey Hagenah of Carlton, Minn., Wanda Chisom of N.C., Ruth Larson of Fla., Richard Hagenah of Wash., and Victor Hagenah of Anoka, Minn. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; Jim and Hazel Bryce; brother, James Geller; special nephew, Lee Geller; brother-in-laws, John and Harry Hagenah; sister-in-law, Irene Hagenah.
