Don Toenyan passed away at his home in Bemidji MN on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, surrounded by his immediate family. He was born in Stearns Co., MN on July 28, 1937, and graduated from Blackduck High School in 1955. After high school he became a co-owner of the Drake Theater in Blackduck MN and then began his career in printing at the Blackduck American newspaper and West Publishing. Later he and his family moved to Seattle, WA and he started working at the Daily Journal of Commerce where he stayed until he retired in 2002 after over 30 years of service. In 2012 he and his wife returned to Bemidji to live.

Don was an avid hunter, fisherman, photographer, gardener, automobile enthusiast. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife Terri, son Donald Jr., daughter Cheryl, and three sisters. He has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. At his request there will be no service. A celebration of his life will be held during the summer of 2014.
