NORTHERN TOWNSHIP – No people were injured in a Sunday morning house fire in Northern Township, but two dogs died in the blaze.
The fire was reported at 8:39 a.m. at a house on the 400 block of Norway Court Northwest.
Responding firefighters had zero visibility and battled high heat upon entry to the home, according to a press report from the fire department. Twenty-three firefighters responded with two engines, three tankers and a ladder truck. They remained on scene about three hours.
The fire caused extensive damage to the exterior, second floor and attic.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious.
Assisting at the scene were the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshal, Beltrami Electric and Bemidji Ambulance Service.
