Delma Elizabeth Hardy, 23, formerly of Ponemah, died August 7, 1996, in Chicago, Ill.
Traditional funeral services will be held at noon Sunday at the Ponemah Community Center with a Spiritual Leader. A wake began Friday at the Ponemah Community Center and will continue until the time of the services. Burial will be in the family burial grounds at Rabbit Point near Ponemah under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Pallbearers will be Randall "Dino" Jones, Richard "Opie" Defoe Jr., Anthony Morrison, Cody Loud, Francisco Gallegos Sr., Gary Spears Jr., Tom Hardy and Melvin Feather III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gina King, Connie Defoe, Nancy "Loni" Hardy, Flora Graves, Liz Richards, Faegre & Benson Law Firm and her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.
She was born August 8, 1972, to Williamette Morrison and Tyrone Head in Red Lake. She was raised and educated on and off the Red Lake Reservation.
She is survived by her mother; grandparents, Elizabeth and Louis "Giiniis" Kingbird of Ponemah, who helped raise her; children, Kristen Jones of Ponemah, Randall Jones of Ponemah and Chelsea Hardy of St. Paul; two grandchildren; sisters, Salina, Melody, Stacy (Francisco) of Ponemah and Season (A.J.) of St. Paul; and brothers, Anthony and Matthew of Ponemah.
She was preceded in death by her father; paternal grandfather, Emil Head; great-grandparents, Edith and Andrew Sigana; an aunt and a cousin.
