Della Jean Tolman, 88, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, Bemidji with Pastor Lou Ellen Hartley officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.

Della Jean Gearou was born January 11, 1925 in North Minneapolis, MN to Harold and Inez (McDaniel) Gearou Sr. She was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1943. She married Alvin Ernest Tolman on February 14, 1943. They lived in the cities for 3 months and then moved to Bemidji where she raised her six children. She did all the pastry baking for the Maid Rite Caf which she and her husband owned along with Mac Shack which they changed into the Coffee Cup Caf. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church, and had served as the President of the Womens Association. Della loved fishing, walking, cooking, crocheting as well as spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved spending time with her two close friends Jeanne Millar and Pat Barthorpe.

She is survived by a son, William (Judith) Tolman of Bemidji; daughters, Penny Ann (Allen) Evans of Bemidji, Patricia (Ross) Lewis of Bemidji, Pamela (Joel) Haakonson of Zimmerman, MN, Pauline Tolman of Santa Clara, CA and Peggy Tolman of Mesa, AZ; 11 grandchildren, Richard Tolman, Debbie Oliva, Sharline Evans, Michael Oelrich, Paul Oelrich, Sarah Norden, Amber Bowmer, Danielle Lewis, Joshua Haakonson, Ivar Haakonson and Amanda Tolman; 15 great-grandchildren, Mathew Oliva, Tatiana Oliva, Scott Evans, Jesse Spaar Sr., Justin Pelawa, Michelle Eckdahl, Rebecca Eckdahl, Zac Oelrich, Petyon Oelrich, Lilliana Oelrich, Madelyn Oelrich, Shelby Norden, Courtney Norden, Drew Bowmer and Sawyer Bowmer;1 great-great-grandson, Jesse Spaar Jr.; 2 brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Gearou of Minneapolis, MN and Dennis (Sharon) Bolster of Ramsey, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Tolman; father, Harold Gearou Sr.; mother and father, Inez and Wm. Bolster; and brother, Harold Gearou Jr.
