Delbert Allyn Drewes was born to Albert and Elsie (Glander) Drewes on Jan. 23, 1936 in Evergreen Township, rural Frazee. He was raised in rural Frazee and attended Frazee Public Schools. He entered the Armed Services in 1955 and served two years in Korea. He received an honorable discharge in 1958 and was a life member of VFW Post 7702 in Frazee.

Delbert married Delores Fiedler on Sept. 27, 1957 in Perham. He worked for several area construction companies prior to starting his own construction business in 1964. He built many homes and remodeled many businesses in the Frazee area. During his career, which continued until shortly before his death, he had many projects with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, in state parks all over the state.

Delbert was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, where he served on the property board for many years. He was also proud of the altar reconstruction that he did in the late 1990s. He very much enjoyed working at the church in any way he could, whether it was chairing a pancake breakfast to raise money for a project or repairing a door that didn't work.

He loved spending time with his family, especially taking his grandkids ice fishing and playing solitaire.

Delbert will be remembered and missed by Delores, his wife of 51 years; his four children, Dean (Wanda) Drewes of Frazee, Dawn (Ron) Zitzow of Valley City, N.D., Danita (Kraig) Ketter of Frazee and Deanne (Les) Roerick of Frazee; his 11 grandchildren; his two great grandsons; two sisters, Madeline (Jake) Yliniemi of Park Rapids and Karen Stiechen of Lake City, Fla.; two brothers, Dennis (Judy) Drewes of Frazee and Alden (Donna) Drewes of Detroit Lakes; and his sister-in-law, Kay Drewes.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Clarence and Alfred; two infant brothers; and three sisters, Marion Feldt, Vivian Anderson and Esther Ylitalo.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Furey Funeral Home, Frazee; there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, with the Rev. William Aufdenkamp officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, with Military Rites provided by VFW Post 7702, Frazee.

Furey Funeral Home in Frazee is serving the family.
