The Bemidji State women's hockey team defeated St. Cloud State 1-0 Friday night at John Glas Fieldhouse.

"A lot of times the little things make the difference," said head coach Steve Sertich. "Last year it was the opposite for us. This year we're winning a lot more faceoffs, we're doing a lot of those little things better than last year and it's paying off."

Coming off a 3-1 road win at Minnesota State last Saturday, the Beavers carried the momentum into the game out shooting the Huskies 35-28, while also dominating in the faceoff department winning 32 of 50.

The win improves BSU to 4-7-2 (3-2-2-2 WCHA) while SCSU drops to 3-8-0 (2-7-0-0 WCHA).

Lundquist deflected Jackie Robertson's shot from the blue line at 15:06 of the second period for her first collegiate goal.

Bemidji State's defense also played strong in the game and combined for 22 blocked shots.

"I thought our D-core was outstanding tonight," Sertich said." We only had maybe two pinches that we made mistakes on, resulting on an odd-man rush; but I thought they were outstanding."

Bemidji State also played a penalty-free game.

Lundquist's goal marks the first time this season that the game-winning goal did not come from the duo of Erin Johnson and Annie Bauerfeld.

The Beavers conclude the weekend series with St. Cloud State at 2:07 p.m. Saturday at The Glas.
