Deerwood Bank to sponsor student
First National Bank of Deerwood seeks to sponsor a high school student from Brainerd, Bemidji or Crosby-Ironton to attend BestPrep's Minnesota Business Venture program this summer.
Interested students can obtain an application by stopping in at First National Bank of Deerwood or by visiting the MBV program page at www.bestprep.org.
MBV is hosted by the G.R. Herberger College of Business and takes place at St. Cloud State University July 11-16 and at the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship at St. John's University July 25-30.
It is designed for students who are seeking career direction, interested in starting their own business or interested in learning and meeting new people.
Students at MBV work in "companies" led by business professionals who help facilitate and mentor them. Students listen to speakers on a variety of topics such as finance, ethics, marketing and international business.
Participants also take part in mock interviews, improve networking skills and participate in breakout sessions led by industry experts.
Students stay in the college, experiencing college life first-hand.
Those selected for MBV will each receive a program sponsorship. They will only be responsible for a $125 registration fee (the fee increases to $175 after April 23). Additional financial assistance is available.
