Deer cause two area crashes, no injuries reported
Two unrelated area accidents were caused by the presence of deer in the roadways.
Perry Pesch, 38, of Puposky, was westbound on U.S. Highway 2 east of Bemidji at 11:58 p.m. Thursday when he struck a deer, causing damage to the front end of his 2001 Ford pickup, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol out of Thief River Falls. The vehicle sustained moderate damage.
Sheri Cleveland, 44, of Northome, was headed south on state Highway 72 at 1:54 a.m. Friday when she swerved to avoid hitting two deer, according to a State Patrol report. She over-corrected, spun out and hit a guard rail. Her 1998 Ford Taurus sustained moderate damage.
No one was injured in the crashes.
