David "Zeeb" Jones Sr., 81, of Redby, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at the Jourdain/Perpich Extended Care Facility in Red Lake.
Traditional funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Redby Community Center. A wake will begin Monday afternoon at the Redby Community Center and continue until the time of the service Wednesday. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Kingbird, Kendall Kingbird, Jeremy Kingbird, Mason Jones, Damien Jones, Robert Kingbird, Tyrell Jones, Jared Jones, Michael Barrett, David Barrett, Charles Kingbird Jr. and Jalen Jones.
Active pallbearers will be Henry Sayers Jr., Rudine Jones, Norman Spears, Jerome Strong Sr., Jason Jones and Brian Jones, with alternates Andrew Oakgrove and Alan Jones.
He was born March 10, 1927, to Pauline Taylor and Leslie Jones. He enjoyed playing bingo, playing his harmonica and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a great storyteller. He lived in Minneapolis, Ponemah and Redby. He has lived the last 11 years at the Jourdain/Perpich Extended Care Facility.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Jones of Redby and Brenda (Henry) Sayers of Redby; sons, David Jones Jr. of Argyle and Jerry Lee Kingbird of Ponemah; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Teresa "Matty" Dunkley of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria Spears Jones; brother, Theodore Jones; and sisters Beatrice Longee and Edna Jones.
