David "Dave" Janisch
David "Dave" Janisch, age 65, of Mahnomen, MN, died Monday, August 12, 2013.
David Howard was born February 13, 1948, in Minneapolis, MN. At the young age of 16 months, Dave was chosen by Adolph and Ludwina Janisch to be their son. His childhood years were spent near Roy Lake, MN. Dave attended school in Naytahwaush, MN, Uran Country School and graduated with the class of 1966 from Mahnomen High School. Following high school, he moved to the Twin Cities to make his home. On April 8, 1967, David was united in marriage to Cindy Bruggeman. To this union, two sons, David and Darrin, were born. Dave sold cars in Bemidji, Coon Rapids and also Waubun, MN. Due to health issues, he was forced to retire in 2006. Dave currently resided east of Mahnomen in his cabin next to the Wild Rice River.
He enjoyed reading, playing cards, fishing, and walking in the woods. He loved living a simple life, laughed often and always took good care of people. Dave usually had a good story to share and could fill a room with laughter and smiles.
Dave is survived by his son, Darrin (Becky) of Medina, MN; three grandchildren: Vanessa Janisch of Bemidji, Jacob and Jordan Janisch, both of Medina; a sister, Sandee (Dale) Sanden of Thief River Falls, MN; the mother of his children, Cindy Janisch of Bemidji; aunt, Felicia Darco of Fort Collins, CO; and special extended family: Pete, Melissa, Maggie and Alex Hartmann, also of Bemidji. He is also survived by Cindy's special family including her mother, Marina Bruggeman of Mahnomen; siblings: Bonnie (Jerry) Siverson of Plymouth, MN, Pam (Doug) Clark of Mahnomen, Teri Darco also of Mahnomen, Chelle (Mike) Mueller of Hutchinson, MN, Rick (Joanie) Bruggeman of Rugby, ND, Kevin (Denise) Bruggeman of Moorhead, MN, and Doug (Sue) Bruggeman of Pelican Rapids, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding David in death are his parents; son, David; father-in-law, Ray Bruggeman and brother-in-law, Darryl Bruggeman.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Naytahwaush, MN, led by Father John Cox.
Inurnment will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery in Naytahwaush.
