Dagmar I. Kuitunen, 90, of Gilbert, Minn., formerly of Bemidji, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing, Minn.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Rev. Kent Dudley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora, Minn.

She was born April 26, 1918, to Emil and Aili (Varsamaki) Luoma in Aurora. She graduated from Aurora High School and later married William T. Koskie in September 1938. They worked in the Marin Shipyards in Marin, Calif. They lived in Virginia, Minn., Hutter, Minn., and in 1963, settled in Gilbert. She worked at Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory as a seamstress and also attended training courses to become a certified occupational therapist assistant in Duluth, Minn. She worked in the Pioneer Infirmary, Koski Nursing Home in Biwabik, Minn., and the Touraine Board and Care Facility in Virginia, Minn. On Sept. 27, 1966, she married Howard Kuitunen. She was a member of the former United Lutheran Church in Gilbert where she served on the church council and was active in the WELCA. She was a 4-H leader, homemaker and nursing home volunteer. She also volunteered as a cook at Camp Siegel Bible Camp and was active in a Bible Study Group. She resided in Bemidji from 2001-2007 before returning to the Iron Range.

She is survived by her daughters, Judith (William) Larson of Bemidji, Billie (Robert) Edwards of Bemidji and Kathie (Will Winger) Koskie of Virginia, Minn.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William T. and Howard; granddaughter, Ashley; and brother, Harry Luoma.
