Cupcakes for a Cure: GoldPine Home in Bemidji holds cupcake bake-off

GoldPine Home in Bemidji held its first Cupcakes for a Cure Bakeoff last month, raising more than $300 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.

"Corncob” cupcakes by Sarah Sundeen, a certified nursing assistant, won both the Most Unique and the People’s Choice categories.

Prizes were donated by local businesses. Community members participated by entering 30 varieties of cupcakes. Judges selected winners in the following categories: Best Decorating, Best Tasting and Most Unique. People in attendance voted for the People’s Choice award by placing money donations next to their favorite cupcakes. Attendees and residents then got to taste the cupcakes entered in the bakeoff.

Winners were as follows:
Best Decorated
First place: Amber Solheim, Josie Spry, Erin Booth, Nickel Wilcox, Hannah Dressen, high school students.
Second place: The Men of GoldPine Home.
Best Tasting
First place: Choice Therapy.
Second place: Susie Griggs.

Most Unique
First place: Sara Sundeen.
Second place: The Ladies of GoldPine Home.
People’s Choice
First place: Sara Sundeen.
Second place: Haley Weaver.
