BEMIDJI – An attic fire resulted in a large response by the Bemidji Fire Department Friday night.

Crews were called just after 7 p.m. to 2215 Shannon Lane SE where flames could be seen coming from under the roof. Firefighters remained on scene after 9 p.m. ventilating the home and monitoring hot spots.

A single occupant of the home, which sits near the Cass County line, was able to evacuate unharmed.

Without the aid of fire hydrants on the rural road, crews set up a collapsible tank at the end of the driveway to the home, and pumped water from it in order to extinguish the blaze.

By 7:30 p.m. only smoke could be seen coming from the two-story home, which resembled a log cabin.

Neighbors said they saw flames.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and a damage estimate was not available late Friday.

No injuries to fire or medical personnel were reported.
