Katelyn Craft paced the Bemidji contingent during Monday's opening round of the MGA Junior state meet.
The tournament is being held at the par-72 Braemar Golf Course in Edina.
Craft was tied for 20th after the first day with rounds of 47-44-91. Shelby Sauer was tied for 22nd at 49-43-92 while Meg Phelps was in 25th at 50-43-93 and Hailey Hinners in 42nd place at 51-54-105.
Cassie Deeg of the University of Minnesota course was the first-day leader as she shot 39-36-75. Teammate Mary Sweeney was second at 38-40-78 and Kaylee Benson of Jackson Golf Course was third at 44-37-81.
In the boys division Miles Death of Baker National was the leader as he shot 34-34-68 on the par-71 men's course. Sam Matthew of Hillcrest was second at 37-32-69 and Max Tylke of Valleywood was third at 34-37-71.
Tied for fourth heading into today's second round with 72s were Andrew Oakes of Lester Park and Cordie Walker of Rochester.
Matthew is a recent participant in the Birchmont where he lost to eventual champion Eric Lilleboe in Saturday's semifinals.
