Court sentencings for week of April 28

The following cases were heard April 28 by Beltrami District Judge John G. Melbye:

Joshua Tyler Ackerman, 19, of Bemidji was sentenced for second-degree felony criminal sexual conduct to 36 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, which is stayed for 25 years with conditional release set after confinement for 10 years. Ackerman must serve 176 days in the Beltrami County Jail and has been credited with 176 days time served. He has been placed on 25 years supervised probation and must pay a $1,000 fine of which $700 is stayed for 25 years. He may pay his fine by way of community service.

Forrest Shawn Bugg, 25, of Bemidji was sentenced for theft of a motor vehicle to 30 days in the Beltrami County Jail, which may be done on work release if eligible. Bugg has been credited for four days time served. He has been placed on five years supervised probation upon successful completion of which will result in a dismissal of the charge.

Emily Jean Goodman, 29, of Bemidji was sentenced for issuing a dishonored check to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail, which is stayed for two years. She has been placed on two years supervised probation and ordered to pay $923.37 in restitution. Goodman was also sentenced for felony check forgery to 48 days in the Beltrami County Jail and has been credited for 48 days time served. She has been placed on 10 years supervised probation upon successful completion of which will result in a misdemeanor conviction. Goodman must pay a $1,000 fine which may be done by way of community service.

Derek Edward Gould, 28, of Bena was sentenced for felony fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine to 90 days in the Beltrami County Jail and may do so on sentence to serve if eligible. He has been credited with 38 days time served. Gould has been placed on five years supervised probation upon successful completion of which will result in a misdemeanor conviction. He must pay a $1,000 fine which may be done by way of community service.

Jared Douglas Heller, 26, of Cokato was sentenced for felony financial transaction card fraud to 13 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, which is stayed for five years. Heller must serve 60 days in the Beltrami County Jail and may do so on work release if eligible. He has been credited with 11 days time served. Heller has been placed on five years supervised probation and must pay a $1,000 fine; $500 of his fine is stayed until March 28, 2015 contingent on payment of $2,662.16 in restitution. He may pay his fine by way of community service.

Jack Gregory Hockenson, 65, of Bemidji was sentenced for fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine to 30 days in the Beltrami County Jail. He has been credited for two days time served. Hockenson has been placed on five years supervised probation upon successful completion of which will result in a dismissal of the charge.

Paul Wayne Nagle, 19, of Bemidji was sentenced for third-degree DWI to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail, of which 335 days are stayed for three years. Nagle must serve 30 days and may do so on work release if eligible. He has been placed on three years supervised probation and must pay a $3,000 fine which is stayed for three years.
