Court Report: Sentencings for March 17, 21, 24 and 25

The following cases were heard on March 17 by Beltrami District Judge John G. Melbye:

Justin Samuel Rivett Goldstein, 24, of Bemidji, was sentenced for third-degree burglary to 21 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud which is stayed for five years. Goldstein must serve 58 days in the Beltrami County Jail. He has been placed on five years supervised probation and must pay a $1,000 fine.

James Ernest Alley, 24, of Wichita Falls, Texas, was sentenced for fourth-degree DWI to 90 days in the Beltrami County Jail which is stayed for two years. Alley has been placed on two years court probation and must pay a $500 fine.

Jesse Lane Urrutia, 56, of Redby, was sentenced for driving after cancellation to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 360 days are stayed for two years. Urrutia must serve five days. He has been placed on two years court probation and must pay a $500 fine.

Benjamin Michael Bauman, 20, of Bemidji, was sentenced for furnishing alcohol to a minor to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 350 days are stayed for two years. Bauman must serve 15 days. He has been placed on two years court probation and may not attend any parties until his 21st birthday. Bauman must pay a $500 fine.

The following cases were heard on March 21 by Beltrami District Judge Paul T. Benshoof:

Tony Lee Jacobson, 41, of Bemidji, was sentenced for receiving stolen property to 90 days in the Beltrami County Jail. He must pay a $50 fine.

The following cases were heard on March 24 by Beltrami District Judge Shari R. Schluchter:

Ian David James Hess, 23, of Eagan, was sentenced for furnishing alcohol to a minor to 90 days in the Beltrami County Jail which is stayed for one year. Hess has been placed on one year court probation and must pay a $500 fine.

DeVauhn Laditris Rainey, 19, of Bemidji, was sentenced for fifth-degree possession of Ecstasy to 88 days in the Beltrami County Jail. Rainey has been credited with 59 days time served and placed on five years supervised probation upon successful completion of which shall result in a dismissal of the charge.

Theodore Edward Molacek, 41, of Lake Park, was sentenced for second-degree DWI to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 320 days are stayed for four years. Molacek must serve 45 days and may do so on work release if eligible and in another county if no charge to Beltrami County. He has been credited for three days time served. Molacek has been placed on four years court probation and must pay a $250 fine.

Robert Allan Lazzaro, 34, of Bemidji, was sentenced for third-degree DWI to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 320 days are stayed for three years. Lazzaro must serve 45 days and has been credited for 22 days time served. He has been placed on three years court probation and must pay a $750 fine which may be done by way of community service. Lazzaro was also sentenced for obstructing legal process to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 320 days are stayed for two years. He must serve 45 days and has been credited with 22 days time served. Lazzaro has been placed on two years court probation and must pay a $400 fine which may be done by way of sentence to serve.

Joel Velisek, 48, of Bemidji, was sentenced for driving after cancellation to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 350 days are stayed for two years. Velisek must serve 15 days. He has been placed on two years court probation and must pay a $500 fine which may be done by way of sentence to serve.

Richard Wayne Henry, 48, of Bemidji, was sentenced for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle to 13 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud which is stayed for four years. Henry must serve 124 days in the Beltrami County Jail. He has been placed on four years supervised probation and must pay a $1,000 fine which may be done by way of community service.

Bruce Wayne Skipton, 61, of Bemidji, was sentenced for third-degree DWI to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 344 days are stayed for three years. Skipton must serve 21 days and has been credited for four days time served. He has been placed on three years court probation and must pay a $750 fine which may be done by way of community service.

The following cases were heard on March 25, 2014 by Beltrami District Judge Paul T. Benshoof:

Gerald Raymond Gustafson, 53, of Bemidji, was sentenced for first-degree felony drug sale to 189 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. Gustafson has been credited with 21 days time served.
