Court report: Sentencings for Dec. 23, 26 and 27

The following cases were heard Dec. 23 by Beltrami District Judge John G. Melbye:

David Robert Yerxa, 34, of Fort Frances, Ont., was sentenced for third-degree DWI to 364 days in the Beltrami County Jail all of which is stayed for two years. Yerxa has been placed on two years court probation and must pay a $750 fine. Community service has been granted for the fine.

The following cases were heard Dec. 26 by Beltrami District Judge John G. Melbye:

Warren Jered Lee Joseph Beaulieu, 21, of Bemidji was sentenced for two counts of a predatory offender knowingly violating registration or intentionally providing false information to 24 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. Beaulieu has been credited for 223 days time served and must pay a $50 fine.

The following cases were heard Dec. 27 by Beltrami District Judge John G. Melbye:

Brian Allen Platt, 31, of Solway was sentenced for check forgery to 12 months and one day in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. Platt has been credited for 366 days time served and must pay a $50 fine.

Derek Daniel Kingbird, 47, of Cass Lake was sentenced for two domestic assault violation charges to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail for each charge all of which is stayed for two years. Kingbird has been placed on two years supervised probation and must pay a $500 fine for each charge. Community service has been granted for one of the fines. Both fines are stayed on the condition that the Batterer’s Intervention Program is completed. Kingbird was also sentenced for obstructing the legal process or interfering with a peace officer to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail all of which is stayed for two years. Kingbird has been placed on two years court probation and must pay a $500 fine. Community service has been granted for the obstruction fine.

The following cases were heard Dec. 30 by Beltrami District Judge Paul T. Benshoof:

Mark Allen Joseph Lundin, 31, of Bemidji was sentenced for second-degree DWI to one year in the Beltrami County Jail of which 275 days are stayed for four years. Lundin must serve 90 days and has been credited for two days time served. After serving 15 actual days Lundin may be allowed work release. He has been placed on four years court probation and must pay a $55 fine.
