Sentencings

The following cases were heard on Oct. 25 by Beltrami District Judge John G. Melbye:

Aaron Lee Pearson, 32, of Laporte was sentenced for fifth-degree assault to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 350 days are stayed for two years. Pearson must serve 15 days and was credited for four days time served. He has been placed on two years supervised probation and must pay a $1,000 fine.

Glen Anthony Fisher, 34, of Bemidji was sentenced for domestic abuse to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 294 are stayed for two years. Fisher must serve 71 days. He has been placed on two years supervised probation and must pay a $1,000 fine.

Kevin Scott Helland, 28, of White Bear Lake was sentenced to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 352 are stayed for two years. Helland must serve 13 days. He has been placed on two years court probation and must pay a $1,000 fine.

Jonathan Tyler Cloud, 22, of Bemidji was sentenced for felony domestic assault to 15 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud which is stayed for five years. Cloud must serve 86 days in the Beltrami County Jail. He has been placed on five years supervised probation and must pay a $1,000 fine.

The following cases were heard on Oct. 28 by Beltrami District Judge Shari R. Schluchter:

Eric Robert Stromberg, 20, of Bemidji was sentenced for DWI to 90 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 88 days are stayed for two years. Stromberg must serve two days. He has been placed on two years court probation and must pay a $400 fine.

Coryn Beth Hagen, 32, of Roseau was sentenced for criminal vehicular homicide or operating a vehicle with negligence under the influence of alcohol to 120 days in the Beltrami County Jail. She must serve 120 days and has been credited for 48 days time served. Hagen has been placed on five years supervised probation and must pay $750 in fines.

Jinelle Marie Losh, 25, of Bemidji was sentenced for fifth-degree drug possession to 30 days in the Beltrami County Jail. Losh must serve 30 days. She has been placed on five years supervised probation. Successful completion of probation will result in a dismissal of the charge.

Wendell Rodney Blue, 42, of Redby was sentenced for felony fifth-degree possession of heroin to 17 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud which is stayed for 10 years. Blue must serve 180 days in the Beltrami County Jail and was credited for 88 days time served. He has been placed on 10 years court probation and must pay a $1,000 fine through sentence to serve.

The following cases were heard on Nov. 1 by Beltrami District Judge Paul T. Benshoof:

Carl Francis Fairbanks, Jr., 25, of Redby was sentenced for domestic assault to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 228 days are stayed for two years. Fairbanks must serve 137 days and has been credited for 98 days time served. He has been placed on two years supervised probation and must pay a $500 fine.

The following cases were heard on Nov. 4 by Beltrami District Judge Paul T. Benshoof:

Ronald Elliott Skinaway, Jr., 29, of Cass Lake was sentenced for driving after cancellation to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 325 days are stayed for two years. Skinaway must serve 40 days. He has been placed on two years supervised probation and must pay a $300 fine.

John Herman Klasen, IV, 36, of Bemidji was sentenced for receiving stolen property to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 305 days are stayed for two years. Klasen must serve 60 days. He has been placed on two years supervised probation and must pay a $300 fine.

Darin Joseph Latterell, 40, of Kelliher was sentenced for DWI to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 305 days are stayed for six years. Latterell must serve 60 days and may do so on work release if eligible. He was credited for three days time served. Latterell has been placed on six years court probation and must pay a $500 fine.

Michael John Hazelton, 47, of Blackduck was sentenced for DWI to 365 days in the Beltrami County Jail of which 320 days are stayed for four years. Hazelton must serve 45days and may do so on work release if eligible. He was credited for three days time served. Hazelton has been placed on four years court probation and must pay a $750 fine.
