The following case was heard by Beltrami County District Judge John Melbye on March 12:

Timothy Edward Morrison, 54, of Bemidji, was sentenced for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI --refusal to submit to a chemical test.

He must serve 17 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for three years, with 17 days credited for time served, serve three years of probation and pay a $750 fine.

The following cases were handled by Beltrami County District Judge Shari Schluchter between March 14 and 20:

Jacob William Chandler, 27, of Northome, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for driving after cancelation --inimical to public safety. He was given a stay of adjudication for one year. Successful completion of probation will result in a dismissal.

Robert Lynn Geller, 57, of Becida, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation -- inimical to public safety.

He must serve 10 days in jail, with two days credited for time served, serve two years of probation and obtain a driver's license within one year.

Laurene Sue May, 28, of Bemidji, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor DWI refusal to submit to a chemical test.

She must serve 45 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for four years, with 20 days credited for time served, serve four years of probation and pay a $1,000 fine.

Charles Frank Braman, 46, of Cass Lake, was sentenced for felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

He must serve 87 days in jail with 58 days credited for time served, serve five years of supervised probation and pay a $1,000 fine.

Dayton Dean Carlson, 24, of Red Lake, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI.

He must serve 10 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for four years, with three days credited for time served, serve four years of supervised probation and complete a DWI program.

Robert Alan Thunder, 29, of Red Lake, was sentenced for felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

He must complete a mental health evaluation and follow all recommendations, take medications in the prescribed dosage and frequency, serve 10 years of supervised probation and pay a $350 fine.

Tommi Sue Wind, 29, of Cass Lake, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI refusal to submit to chemical test.

She must serve 10 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for six years, with three days credited for time served, serve six years of supervised probation, complete a wellness program in Cass County and pay any fees associated with the program.

Kimberly Kay Carlson, 40, of Bemidji, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor failing to stop for a school bus.

She must serve two years of probation, write a letter of apology and pay a $300 fine.

Samuel James Bellanger, 35, of Bemidji, was sentenced for felony violating a no-contact order within 10 years of the first of two or more convictions.

He must serve 79 days in jail, serve five years of supervised probation, stay a reasonable distance away from the victim's residence and pay a $1,000 fine.

Swen John Baker, 49, of Red Lake, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation -- inimical to public safety.

He must serve three days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for two years, with three days credited for time served, serve two years of probation and pay a $750 fine.

Nathan Leigh Halse, 28, of Bemidji, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI.

He must serve 45 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for four years, serve four years of probation and pay a $500 fine.

Andy Kelly Simon, 32, of Mahnomen, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI refusal to submit to a chemical test.

He must serve 90 days of a one-year jail sentence, stayed for four years, with three days credited for time served, serve four years of probation and pay a $1,000 fine.

Dennis Wayne Debungie, 34, of Bayfield, Wis., was acquitted of two charges of gross misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct and misdemeanor indecent exposure.
