Couple saves with Homes for Heroes
BEMIDJI — Homes for Heroes has had its first home closing here.
Scott and Saundra McLean, who closed on their new home Nov 15, saved $2771.25 by working with Homes for Heroes and using Jen Martinson, a real-estate agent with ERA Pederson and Associates in Bemidji, and Homes for Heroes lender Pat Levoir out of Lakeville, Minn.
Scott retired from the U.S. Marshall Service in Oregon and they moved back here in October.
First National Bank has signed on as the local lender for Homes for Heroes, Martinson said.
“So by using Trent (Eineichner, the other local Homes for Heroes agent) and I, we will give back 25 percent of our commission, and by using First National Bank, they will also give a discount to our local heroes at one-half percent origination fee instead of 1 percent,” she said.
Teachers, doctors, nurses, firefighters, police, EMTs, military (past and present) and clergy all qualify for the program.
