Council to consider ordinances, City Code amendments during Monday's meeting
The Bemidji City Council will meet at 7 p.m. to Monday for a regular council meet at Bemidji City Hall. There are few new items on the council's agenda.
The council is schedule to hold the final reading, and possibly approve, the city's 2008 fees schedule, which would include increased gas and electric fees and new connection fees for sewer and water access.
Also on the agenda is the following:
E Adopting of a resolution approving a cooperative agreement with Minnesota Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of Bemidji Avenue from Third Street to 23rd Street.
E A public hearing on the proposal to limit membership of the city's Park and Trails Commission to city residents.
E A public hearing on the proposed changes to the City Code dealing with the building code. The proposed changes include adopting the 2006 International Building Code (was 2000), adopting the 2006 International Residential Code (was 2000), and adopting the 2005 National Electrical Code (was 2000).
E Holding the first reading of an ordinance that would amend the City Code relating to erosion and sedimentation control. The ordinance requires and activity that disturbs the land to submit an erosion control plan. Essentially, this means that any construction activity, including the construction of a single-family home, will need to provide an erosion control plan and a minimum of a $500 refundable escrow, according to a staff report. Larger projects will require a larger escrow. All plans will need to be approved by the city engineer's office prior to any grading activities taking place.
