Cottrell appointed dean at NTC
Northwest Technical College has selected Harry Cottrell to be the new dean of learner services.
Cottrell will start in the new position on Dec. 7.
"Mr. Cottrell brings a wealth of experience in enrollment management as well as institutional strategic planning to Student Services at Northwest Technical College," said Vice-President of Student Development and Enrollment Lisa Erwin. "I'm very pleased that Harry will be joining the Student Services team."
Cottrell has served as supervisor for Center for Lifelong Learning at Lake Superior College in Duluth. He has served as director of admissions and enrollment management at LSC; director of grants, planning, and institutional research at Sauk Valley Community College, in Dixon, Ill.; director of individualized certificate program in Centralia, Wash.; registrar at Nicolet Area Technical College, in Rhinelander, Wis.; and assistant to the president in research, planning and enrollment at Inver Hills Community College at Inver Grove Heights.
Cottrell has an associate's degree from the College of the Redwoods, Eureka, Calif.; a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Cal.
Cottrell has 30 years of administrative experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors and more than 25 years spent in community and technical colleges working in academic affairs, workforce development, continuing education, student services, research, marketing, enrollment management, strategic planning, grant writing, and as a college faculty member.
