Motorists will encounter a detour on Monday, Aug. 10, when crews begin a resurfacing project to improve the safety and condition of State Highway 1 from the Pennington/Beltrami county line east to the junction with State Highway 89.

The project includes replacing a bridge and 20 culverts and bituminous milling, paving and striping.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured north on Pennington County Road 28 for 3.5 miles, north on Marshall County Road 54 for 8.5 miles to Grygla, then east on Highway 89. Westbound traffic will follow the same detour route in reverse. The detour is expected to be in place until Friday, Sept. 4.

When the detour is lifted, the remainder of the work will continue with single lane closures and flagging operations. The project is expected to be complete by Wednesday, Sept. 30.
