Connie Huwe

April 3, 1953-Dec. 7, 2008

Former Wolf Lake resident Connie J. Huwe, 55, of Bloomington, Minn., passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee.

Connie Joy Huwe was born to Eldor Herbert and Margaret Sarah (Beck) Huwe on April 3, 1953 in Wadena. She grew up on the family farm in Wolf Lake, where she worked hard and would milk all of the cows, even helping out the neighbors if they went on vacation.

Connie graduated from the Frazee High School with the class of 1971. She excelled in band and choir and was a great vocalist and loved to sing. After graduation, Connie immediately moved to Minneapolis, where she was employed at Prudential Insurance Company for six years. At this time, she did some traveling and was a great asset to her bowling and softball teams. In 1978, she obtained a realtor license and was a realtor for the past 30 years. During this time, she also worked as an independent caterer through out the Minneapolis area.

Connie's career highlight was catering at a banquet for the University of Minnesota Men's basketball team. She also did part time work as a cook for the St. Alberts Rectory in Minneapolis for 10 years. She was an excellent cook and could make the best cheescakes.

Connie also enjoyed flowers, gardening, singing karoke, fireworks, bonfires, fishing, thunderstorms, Christmas time, and was a Minnesota Vikings fanatic. Whenever they would score, she would play her records and dance. She had a great sense of humor and even did some stand up comedy routines at clubs in the Minneapolis area. She always was able to put a smile on your face.

Connie's best talent was writing, and she was known for her great and comical Christmas letters. They would always end in her traditional quote, "Have an adventure, make a memory and tell me about it." Her best memories were times with her family and friends and living in her Bloomington dream house with her 11-year-old son. On Dec. 4, 2008 Connie was transferred from the Minneapolis area to the Frazee Care Center in Frazee. Three days later, she passed away, surrounded by her loving family -- right after the Vikings won.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving Connie are her son, Gannon; parents, Eldor and Margaret Huwe of Wolf Lake; siblings, Linda Huwe of Minneapolis, Laurie (John) Hendrickx of New York Mills, Tim (Brenda) Huwe of Park Rapids and Jane (Robert) VonRuden of Frazee; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Preceding Connie in death were her grandparents, Carl and Sophie Beck, and Albert Sr. and Emma Huwe.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 11, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township, rural Perham, with the Rev. Del Meyer officiating.

Pallbearers were Larry Huwe, Lesleie Huwe, Dale Huwe, David Huwe, Dean Huwe and Darwin Huwe. All of Connie's nieces and nephews served as honorary bearers. Connie was laid to rest in Spruce Grove Union Cemetery, rural Menahga.
