Concordia Language Village plans dinner to raise scholarship dollars
BEMIDJI – The Concordia Language Villages’ fifth annual scholarship fundraising dinner will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Finnish Village, Sololampi.
The theme for the banquet is a French inspired dinner beginning with a social hour featuring appetizers of assorted breads and cheeses with pears, and punch or wine from 5:30-6 p.m..
Dinner will follow, with a menu including gourmet offerings created by the creative chefs at the villages to include soup, a meat entrée with accompanying vegetables, salad and dessert all for a $45 ticket ($25 is tax deductible).
The French inspired theme will include a presentation from a faculty member of the French Village, Les Voyageurs.
Fundraising goes to helping youth spend a week in the culture of a foreign country of their choice.
During the past four years, the CLV’s citizen advisory group solicited essays from fourth- and fifth-graders from the greater Bemidji area explaining why they would like to spend a week at a language village. This past summer, 13 youngsters received scholarships, valued at $870.
CLV’s goal is to bring in more underwriting for the program.
