Community Band to perform Sunday
The Bemidji Area Community Band will wrap up its summer concert season at 7 p.m. Sunday on the south lawn of Bangsberg Hall at Bemidji State University.
The band will be under the direction of Mike Kerrigan of Walker. Kerrigan is a 1974 graduate of Bemidji State, where he studied trombone with Dr. Tom Swanson. He taught instrumental music in the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley school district for 34 years. Kerrigan also spent time as a Minnesota State High School League adjudicator and served on the board of directors of the Minnesota Music Educators Association.
This last concert will feature music of all styles, including selections from "Music Man", the Holsinger classic "Prelude and Rondo", "Sounds of Simon and Garfunkel", a Dixieland number and a popular John Philip Sousa march.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to BSU's Bangsberg Recital Hall.
Country Kitchen is the sponsor of this week's concert.
