The resolution would urge the governor and members of both the Minnesota House of Representatives and Senate to solve their public policy, ideological and financial disagreements and produce a balanced state budget before July 1. The goal is to prevent a governmental shutdown.

The resolution states that a shutdown would put at risk the intergovernmental partnership between the state and counties throughout Minnesota. Counties are responsible for providing state-mandated services in relation to residents' health, welfare and safety. Beltrami County would not be able to fund health and human services if the state government shuts down, and 6,500 people on various forms of public assistance would have their services discontinued.

In other business, the County Board will consider allocating Red Lake Game Funds or 15 percent of Payment in Lieu of Taxes Set Aside funds to provide an outdoor warning system for Waskish. The warning system would be used for communicating civil defense, weather, fire or other community hazards and would be set off by the Celtrami County dispatch.
