Cold cancels all Tuesday Bemidji High School sports events
BEMIDJI — Another day without school on Tuesday meant another night without any sports activities for the Bemidji High School winter programs.
And, because it is so late in the season, most, if not all, of Tuesday’s events were cancelled instead of postponed.
Tuesday’s casualties included the home girls basketball game against Thief River Falls. That contest was originally scheduled for Jan. 7 but had to be pushed back because of the Arctic blast that hit northern Minnesota three weeks ago.
Scheduled to compete on the road Tuesday night were the girls hockey team (at Moorhead), the wrestlers (at Little Falls against Little Falls and Alexandria) and the boys swimmers (at Grand Rapids).
The girls basketball, wrestling and swimming meets have been shelved. The girls hockey game has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Monday. Only the varsity game will be played.
No events are scheduled for Wednesday but three teams hope to resume their seasons on Thursday.
The wrestlers are scheduled to host Roseau at 5 p.m. and Brainerd at 7:30 p.m. The skiers plan to travel to Detroit Lakes for their final competition prior to next week’s section meet.
Hoping to hit the road is the boys hockey team as the Jacks will visit Roseau.
