Clyde Knapp, 89, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, June 23, 2014 at GoldPine Home, Bemidji.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 12 in the Moses Dane Cemetery, Burtrum, MN.
Clyde William Knapp was born August 21, 1924 in Burtrum, MN to Jason & Florence (Clark) Knapp. He attended school in Burtrum. On February 23, 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 179th Field Artillery Battalion where he was a heavy machine gunner and operated a 50 caliber machine gun. He fought during the Battle of the Bulge along with other battles. He stayed on after the war to help close military operations in Germany. After the war he started working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a telegrapher and later became a station agent. In addition to these jobs he also worked in many other positions with the railroad over his 40 years with the company.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Gene Knapp and Howard Knapp; sister, Katheryn Stevens and special friend, Dolly Larson.
