Close finishes highlight Senior Citizen Night at Bemidji Speedway By Dennis Peterson
In front of a Senior Citizen Night crowd the Bemidji Speedway drivers put on a spirited display of racing which included many last-lap passes and victories.
Next Sunday the Speedway will host the Track Championship and the season point champions will be crowned. The final races of the year will be the annual Paul Bunyan Stampede on Oct. 2 and 3.
Mini Stocks
Tim LaVoi started outside pole and cruised to an easy victory. Neil Fleming, Leahna Barrett, Billy Smith and Billy Foster made up the top five.
Pure Stocks
On the last lap Joel Harvey took the lead from Dylan Miller and Harvey charged to the checkered flag. Bill Chaboyea, Corey Peterson and Bill Beaulieu completed the top five.
Hornets
Coming out of turn-four on the final lap Josh Seely-Sautbine raced inside and passed Jason Bush for the win. Bush, don Kolkin, Joe Doti and Andy Hanson followed.
Mod Four
Brady LaVoi successfully blocked the pass of Corry VanMil on the last lap and held his position to win his first ever feature win. Tommy McGough, Brandon Kellen, and Conrad Schwin rounded out the top five.
Midwest Modified
Skyler Smith overcame a pair of cautions and the field to win his second feature in two weeks and his third overall at the Speedway.
Bret Schmidt, Rick Jacobson, Adam Johnson and Chris Dudley rounded out the top five.
Super Stocks
Lindell took the lead at the green flag and maintained it throughout the race to collect his second feature win of the summer. Dalton Carlson, gary Nelson Jr., Scotty Messner and Andy Davey trailed.
