Clinton to campaign in Fargo, Duluth

ST. PAUL -- Former President Bill Clinton plans campaign stops in Minnesota Tuesday after appearing in Fargo, N.D., tonight.
President Barack Obama’s campaign said details about Clinton’s visit would be released later, but he is expected to be in the Twin Cities and Duluth.
There also were unconfirmed reports that Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney or his running mate, Paul Ryan, would stop in Minnesota this week. They have canceled some of the East Coast appearances due to Hurricane Sandy.
A recent Star Tribune poll showed Obama’s Minnesota lead falling to 3 percentage points after observers saying the president looked to have a solid lead.
Besides Minnesota and North Dakota, on Clinton’s agenda this week are battleground states of Colorado, Ohio, Virginia, New Hampshire and Wisconsin.
Clinton was to be with Vice President Joe Biden in Ohio today. The Obama campaign reported Clinton will be featured at more than one Minnesota rally Tuesday.
“President Clinton’s trip will include both a mix of battleground states, where he will continue to lay out the choice for the American people in this election, and states with strong Democratic bases, where he will fire up supporters and urge them to help get out the vote for President Obama,” the Obama campaign reported.
The Fargo event will be at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center. It is free and open to thepublic.
“President Clinton knows how important it is to elect individuals who put partisanship aside and fight for the middle class. I am proud to have his support,” Heitkamp said in the news release.
Heitkamp served as North Dakota’s attorney general while Clinton was president.
