Clifford Olson, 85 of Clearbrook, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at his home.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook with Rev. Tom Seaver officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Elim Lutheran Cemetery in Clearbrook. Military rites will be accorded by the Melvin Johnson American Legion Post 256 of Clearbrook.
The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
He was born June 24, 1923, to Ole and Marie (Juve) Olson in Fosston. He attended school in Weme, Minn., through the eighth grade. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 15, 1944, until Aug. 12, 1946, having attained the rank of Tec. Sgt. He married Violet Stanton on April 6, 1948, in Bagley. They lived in Eddy Township, Clearwater County, where they farmed. He was a member of the Elim Lutheran Church where he served as trustee, a 62-year member of the Melvin Johnson American Legion Post and served as fire warden of Eddy Township for 26 years. He enjoyed reading, sightseeing, spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of Clearbrook; daughters, Shirley (Jim) Sondreal of East Grand Forks, Minn., Renie (Doug) Peterson of Ada, Minn., Vickie (Lyle) Solie of Fertile, Minn., Marilyn (Steve) Fladeland of Crookston, Minn., Tammy (Rodney) Erickson of Ada, Minn., and Michele (Tony) Fawver Maros of Ramsey, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Steele and Myrtle Olson; brothers, Edwin, Ordean, and Clarence and a son-in-law.
