Clean Energy Jobs Tour here Monday
The Sierra Club and allied organizations are touring Minnesota, highlighting the thousands of clean energy jobs in the state.
A Clean Energy Jobs Tour Slideshow will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 17, in the north conference room at Hobson Memorial Union at Bemidji State University.
Workers are building the clean energy economy by manufacturing hybrid transit buses, installing wind turbines and solar panels, weatherizing homes, and making businesses more energy-efficient, the Sierra Club noted in a news release. A Pew Study showed almost 20,000 clean energy jobs in Minnesota in 2007. Since 2007, thousands of Minnesotans have gone to work in renewable energy.
The tour, co-sponsored by the Minnesota BlueGreen Alliance, Minnesota Environmental Partnership and Environment Minnesota, will highlight the progress Minnesota has made in building the clean energy and call on the U.S. Senate to pass comprehensive climate and clean energy jobs legislation.
