Clarence Ellsworth O'Beirne
Clarence Ellsworth (Mon) O'Beirne passed to his next stage of life, November 19, 2006, after 81 years of life on earth. A man of many roles, he took the most pride in being husband to Darlene (Lawver) O'Beirne, Papa to his ten children: Bernard Francis and Mark Anthony O'Beirne of Goshen, IN; Clarissa Magdalen, Rebecca Jeanne, Lydia Marie (fiancé of Neil Pietruszewski), and Samantha Mary O'Beirne of Bemidji, MN; Olive Eleanor (O'Beirne) Smith (wife of Jason) of Bemidji, MN; Casey James (husband of Carey), Molly Darlene, and Kelly Nadine O'Beirne of Shevlin, MN; and Grampa to his granddaughter, Helena Mon O'Beirne, while awaiting a grandson to be born in February. He walks now with his parents Clarence Edward and Magdalen Theresa O'Beirne, siblings: Patricia Brockman, Marcellus O'Beirne, Kenneth O'Beirne, and Marcia O'Beirne, and a grandchild. He continues to watch over his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings: Anola Stubbins, Ione Seado, Audrey Jorstad, Luanne O'Beirne, Cecelia Ries, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Mon was born in Wadena, MN on March 12, 1925 where he lived until the age of ten. At that time, he moved with his family to what became his beautiful farm near Shevlin, MN, where he worked and loved, and did both well -- leading others to do the same. He raised beef cattle and logged and built his life in service to God and his family. He found peace and relaxation in time spent with his family and enjoying the outdoors. Mon celebrated his Catholic faith for many years at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Shevlin and at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bagley; and through praying the Morning Offering and the Rosary daily. He spent time in service to his country enlisted in the US Navy during World War II, where he was a Fireman 1st Class from March 22, 1944 to May 18, 1946 aboard three different ships off the coast of Japan.
Mon's life is celebrated for his quiet grace, his crazy stories, his simple joy, his unyielding will, his quirky humor, his fierce pride, his short temper -- sometimes, and his boundless love -- ALWAYS.
