Blackduck residents might have wondered what in the world was going on if they chanced to drive by the hockey .The city maintenance department was burning the street! The water main next to the rink had broken and was leaking but with the ground frozen, the city was unable to get to the broken pipe so they got slabs and wood from the sawmill and started a fire, left, to thaw out the road enough so that Gerit Hanson would be able to dig down to the pipe, allowing the city crew to put a patch on the broken pipe, center. Once the patch was complete, Hanson filled in the hole.
