Citizen's Academy openings available

Openings for the biannual Citizens Academy are still available.

The program, geared for those interested in learning more about law enforcement, emergency response and volunteering, is sponsored by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and Bemidji Police Department.

The free program is open to everyone and includes presentations from various members of the Police Department, the Sheriff's Office and volunteers with the Beltrami County Emergency Management Team.

Speakers will talk about numerous topics, including officer safety and use of force, 911 and communications overview, a case study, crime scene processing, traffic safety, new technology tools, SWAT team and volunteer opportunities.

Classes will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays during the month of March at our Law Enforcement Center Training Room, 613 Minnesota Ave. NW, Bemidji.

Reservations for this class are recommended, but not required.
