Christopher W. Carlson, 29, of rural Lake Park, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 in Lake Park.

Christopher was born the son of Ronald and Vinita (Renner) Carlson on Oct. 2, 1978, in Detroit Lakes. He was raised in Lake Park and graduated from Lake Park-Audubon High School in 1998. Christopher attended Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Detroit Lakes, taking courses in sales and marketing.

Christopher was employed with Cenex as an H-Vac Technician. He most recently worked for Modern Heating and Plumbing in Detroit Lakes. Christopher also owned and operated Chris Carlson Drain Cleaning, and did custom hay baling and snow removal. He married Heidi Knutson on June 29, 2002 in Cormorant. They made their home in rural Lake Park with their four children.

Christopher was a member of the Lake Park Fire Department. He enjoyed horseback riding, snowmobiling, hunting and farming. He truly was a farmer at heart. The time he enjoyed most was the time spent with his family.

Christopher is survived by his wife, Heidi; four children, Noah and Gabrielle Carlson, Kaylin and Levi, all of Lake Park; his parents, Ronald and Vinita Carlson of rural Lake Park; three brothers, Jayde (Elizabeth) Carlson of rural Audubon, Erik (Traci) Carlson of Lake Park and Brandon (Emily Nelson) Carlson of West Fargo; grandfather, John Renner of Detroit Lakes; mother-in-law, Valerie (Ben Piche) Knutson of Frazee; sisters-in-law, Steph (Dave) Busack of Waldorf, Md., and LaDonna (Paul) Cossette of Lake Park; brothers-in-law, Landon Knutson of Ulen, Lynn Knutson of Frazee, Tim (Manda) Knutson and Jason (Jessica) Knutson, both of Rollag; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Christopher in death were his grandfather, Clarence Carlson; grandmother, Wilma Renner; and father-in-law, Alvin "Butch" Knutson Jr.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Lakes Area Vineyard Church, Detroit Lakes, with interment at Eksjo Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Park.

A memorial account has been established at Bremer Bank under the name of Chris Carlson Memorial Fund.
