Chase through woods, swamps leads to arrest
HIBBING, Minn. (AP) -- A Hibbing man was arrested Wednesday after leading officers on a nine-hour hunt through woods, swamps and rivers.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Department said a deputy tried to pull the man over around 3 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 84 north of Hibbing. But the suspect jumped from the car and led officers on the chase.
A dog caught the man around noon. Officers found two stolen, loaded handguns, marijuana and metham-phetamines in the man's car, the sheriff's department said.
The suspect, who was wanted on several warrants, faces drug and weapons charges.
