Chamber urges ‘yes’ vote on operating levy
The Bemidji Area Chamber has again elected to support the renewal of the Independent School District 31 existing property tax referendum ($501 per pupil) that is set to expire after this year. The $501 per pupil allows the district to continue all-day everyday kindergarten as well as to back fill the expenses it occurs on an underfunded state mandate of school busing.
Bemidji is a strong and growing regional center. One of its gems is our school district. Healthy vibrant schools are providing the education to the upcoming generations in our business community’s workforce. It is also a great asset when recruiting. It has been said many times over that recruiting doctors, health care support, faculty and upper-level management is always easier when you have great assets in your community that add to the quality of life here. A strong district is at the top of the list.
