The concert will feature an ensemble of three musicians from Minnesota - violinist Young-Nam Kim, pianist Tom Bartsch and cellist Pat Riley. The trio will play selections from the classical author Antonin Dvorak.

"This concert is unique because it features a very talented local musician from right here in Bemidji," said Bartsch, referring to Riley.

Riley has 36 years of experience teaching cello and bass at Bemidji State University. He is also a member of the Bemidji Symphony, the Bemidji Jazz Quartet and the Bemidji Big Band.

Kim, director of CMSM, was asked by the Headwaters School of Music and Arts to perform with Riley and Bartsch during the ChiZibii Suzuki Institute camp in session from July 13-17 at Oak Hills College. Students from North Dakota and Minnesota participate in the week-long music camp and learn advanced Suzuki methods in violin and viola.

"Ensembles are different from orchestras," said Kim. "They are conversations through music rather than by mouth. You will hear a story from three sides at the concert."

The concert will be presented as a gift to the community by the musicians and is free of charge. The next CMSM concert will be at the Northern Lights Chamber Music Institute Festival in August in Ely, Minn.
